After hearing what Francois Beauchemin went through at the end of the season, I promise to never complain about a little soreness in my neck after I sleep on it wrong.
The Anaheim Ducks said that Beauchemin successfully underwent surgery on his shredded ACL after playing the final six weeks of the season in pain. All indications are that Franky was playing on the bum knee as...

Steve Palumbo: Bruce Boudreau up for the Jack Adams Award
The Anaheim Ducks early exit from the Stanley Cup playoffs was a bit of a surprise to everyone. What shouldn't have come as a surprise is head coach Bruce Boudreau having been recognized for his teams excellent regular season with a Jack Adams nomination.
After taking over mid-season a year ago, Boudreau led the Ducks to a 30-12-6 finish in his first full year (sort of, lockout...
A Getzlaf 1 of 1: Dave and Adam's Edition.
Quirky 1 of 1s don't particularly do it for me, but if one can be had for a great price, I'm not opposed to adding it to my collection. Injuries Revealed by Ducks
Tuesday at the Honda Center was spent on exit interviews for players rather than prepping for a game in round two of the playoffs. The Ducks would much rather have been anticipating the Los Angeles Kings than cleaning out lockers.
GM Bob Murray, who was nominated for GM of the year, actually spoke to the media. Murray, unlike Brian Burke, speaks rarely and often looks annoyed...
What Petri Kontiola’s WHC Performance Tells Us
The preliminary round of the World Hockey Championships concluded yesterday. Ilya Kovalchuk of Russia leads the tournament with 13 points. In second in scoring is Petri Kontiola of Finland. He has 12 points. This is a bit of a surprise since Kontiola is not an established NHL player.
Kontiola was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2004. He was 19 years old at the...
Teemu Selanne contemplating his future in the NHL
Have we seen the last of Teemu Selanne in the NHL? As soon as the Anaheim Ducks were booted from the playoffs by the Detroit Red Wings, fans were immediately wondering if Selanne would be returning to play hockey for another year or if he'd call it a career and hang up his skates.
During the team's exit interviews on Tuesday, Selanne's future was a hot topic. When...
Ducks still crushed by early playoff elimination
Two days after Detroit abruptly ended the Anaheim Ducks' season, they still can't believe they're already done for the summer.
The second-seeded Ducks expected a long playoff run after winning the Pacific Division with the best points percentage in franchise history. None of it helped in their seven-game loss to the Red Wings.
General manager Bob Murray built a potential...

A Bruce Boudreau coached team suffers another playoff letdown
The Anaheim Ducks finished second in the Western Conference, winning their second Pacific Division banner and giving their fans high hopes for the post-season. They were expected to make the playoffs this season, but the finish, despite the presence of superstars like Corey Perry, Teemu Selanne, Bobby Ryan, and Ryan Getzlaf, was a pleasant surprise.
A team with a 30-12-6 record...
Pavel Datsyuk scores filthy backhand goal against Anaheim Ducks
Late in the first period the Detroit Red Wings had the puck deep in the Anaheim Ducks zone when this fantastic play happened. Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg made this awesome pass to Pavel Datsyuk, who made a slick deke on Ryan Getzlaf that turned him inside out and then Datsyuk buried a backhand shot far side on Jonas Hiller. The shot gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead and was a...
Corey Perry kicks Jimmy Howard in the balls not once, but twice (video/GIF)
During Wednesday’s match-up between the Anaheim Ducks and Detroit Red Wings in Game 5 of the teams’ Western Conference quarterfinals series, Ducks winger Corey Perry committed two separate egregious affronts to the crotchal region of Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard within a few-second time span. It appears that the first one netted Perry a two-minute [...]The post Corey Perry...
Ducks’ Corey Perry kicks Jimmy Howard in the head (VIDEO)
YouTube
Midway through the second period of Game 1 of the Wings-Ducks series, Ducks’ touch guy Corey Perry skated through the crease with an eye on intimidating Wings goalie Jimmy Howard.
As you watch the video, Perry could have easily avoided Howard, but picked his left skate up, kicking Howard upside the head. Perry, who has tried to use intimidation tactics before on the Wings...
