Jaguars' Foye Oluokun sums up 49ers loss perfectly

The Jacksonville Jaguars were the hottest team in the NFL before this week. They had won five games in a row, and only one of those games had been at home in Jacksonville. So, in their next game at home, you'd think they would come out fired up and at least make it a game against the San Francisco 49ers, right?

Well, I don't think I really need to say anything, but I will - wrong. They came out, and while the defense did their job more than a few times, the offense failed to do their job almost every drive. Actually, every drive. The one decent drive they had started on the one-yard line and finished with a field goal.

That is the only time the Jaguars scored all day. No one was outright saying the Jaguars would blow out the 49ers because they are a respectable team despite their prior three games being a loss. The 49ers made some deadline moves, which made their defense even more electric, and we saw that on Sunday.

So, how would you sum up this game? After the game, the players and coaches seem to do the best job of this.

"The NFL will humble you," linebacker Foye Oloukun said.

And humbling it was. The Jaguars offense had a similar showing, which was also at home against the Chiefs, where they didn't score a touchdown and kind of got blown out. The players, like Oloukun, aren't the only ones who feel like that.

"This was definitely a humbling experience today," head coach Doug Pederson said after the game.

The 49ers really showed both ways that whatever game(s) happened before this week doesn't matter. The players and coaches saying they were humbled kind of give away the feeling that maybe they thought they were better than they really are.

The good thing is that all of the top AFC teams, besides the Kansas City Chiefs, who are on a bye, also lost this week. The Baltimore Ravens, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Chargers, who could be a potential wild-card team, are also losing to the Detroit Lions.

The bad thing is that two of the other three division opponents in the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts, both won.

This loss isn't the end of the world. It's time to get back to the drawing board. Things don't necessarily get easier from here on out, but it can't really get worse.
